First 1-3 comeback
Images
The first time a professional team came back to win a 7-game series after being down 1-3 was the Pittsburgh Pirates when they won the 1925 World Series. The opponent was the defending champion, the Washington Senators, who had Walter Johnson, who many considered the greatest pitcher. Walter was the opposing pitcher in game 7; he had already won games 1 and 4 in the series by allowing only one run in 18 innings.
The Senators would quickly jump to a 4-0 lead in the first; the game and the series seemed over at that point, but the Pirates would score three runs in the third. In the bottom of the 7th, Pittsburgh would score two runs to tie the game before scoring three in the eighth to take a 9-7 lead. The Pirates would hang on and win their second World Series.
