The first time any professional sports team, let alone an NHL team, came back from a 0-3 hole was the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1942 Stanley Cup finals. The Detroit Red Wings were up 3-0 despite being 15 points behind the Leafs in the regular season. The Maple Leafs would become the only team to come back from 0-3 in any final championship series.
