An ice cream parlor becoming the best fast food fried chicken restaurant
Jollibee is a successful Filipino chain fast food restaurant with over 1500 spots worldwide today. Despite being known for its fried chicken, named by Eater as serving the best fast-food fried chicken in 2022, it started as an ice cream parlor in 1975 created by Tony Tan Caktiong and his family. At one point, they started offering non-ice cream food, and those became more popular, leading to a pivot into a fast food restaurant. The success never stopped; they formed the first official Jollibee restaurant in 1978 and have continued expanding.
