The Comeback
Images
The largest postseason comeback in the NFL occurred when the Buffalo Bills won despite being down 35-3 against the Houston Oilers at one point in the third quarter. This wild card game was known as The Comeback. The two teams played against each other in the prior week, the last game of the season, with the Bills' starting quarterback, Jim Kelly, getting injured and knocked out of the wildcard game. The Bills lost that game 27-3.
In this rematch, without their main QB, being behind by 32, in dismal weather with winds up to 24mph, with many fans leaving the home stadium, the Bills struck back to tie it in the fourth and win in OT 41-38.

How the Buffalo Bills pulled off the greatest comeback in NFL history
Christie kicked the game-winning field goal in overtime to cap the biggest comeback in NFL history, a feat even the players on the field didn't think was possible. Add in that the Bills were quarterbacked by a backup in Frank Reich, and the record is that much more impressive.

Bills-Oilers '93 was more than an epic comeback. It was a peek at the NFL's future.
A seemingly insurmountable lead blown. A new (at least for the NFL) offensive system that had been under scrutiny by real football men had failed on the playoff stage, as those real football men had predicted. A backup quarterback — with a history of leading improbable comebacks — had done it again. Multiple questionable calls that ultimately turned the result of the game.
