Greatest wide receiver in NFL
The average tenure for a wide receiver in the NFL is about two years; the typical peak season happens at age 27. However, wide receiver is one of the fastest positions in the field and usually slow down as they age, so you don't expect to find many successful older receivers in the league.
There are many reasons that Jerry Rice is the GOAT wide receiver but how he played as he got older is one. He was never one of the faster receivers, reportedly clocked with a 4.58 40-yard dash; a receiver's average time is around 4.48 seconds. Nevertheless, he caught 13823 yards and 104 touchdowns after he turned 30. Those numbers would be enough to get into the hall of fame.
Unfortunately, he tore his ACL in 1997 in his age-35 season; most people would have hung up the cleats but not Jerry. However, in 2001 when he turned 39, he had 1139 yards and nine touchdowns and followed that up with 1211 yards and seven touchdowns the following season. He even played two more seasons after. Jerry Rice was the oldest wide receiver to play in the NFL at 42 and the most senior with 1,000 yards in a season at 40.
