Youngest Dota 2 International Winner

Posted: Aug 22, 2023

Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan started playing Dota when he was eight and became one of the best amateur players by the time he was a teenager. He was good enough to get noticed and recruited by one of the top Dota 2 teams in North America, Evil Geniuses (EG), in 2015. At the time, Sumail was a known player only among people who followed non-pros, so some wondered what EG was doing when they added him and Aui to replace more renowned players at the time, Arteezy and Zai.

At the first LAN tournament afterward, EG and, particularly, Sumail struggled, so more people started to doubt whether such a young player should be playing for EG. Sumail and the team began to do better in the subsequent few events. Adding Sumail was an excellent decision for the team, leading to EG winning the International 2015. SumaiL became the youngest International winner at 16.
