Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now
Everything about Lewis Capaldi is unconventional; he doesn't look like a typical pop star, has a raspy voice, rose to stardom from Spotify, is open about his struggles with mental health, and even has Tourette's. He had performed at pubs since he was a teenager before his manager discovered Capaldi from SoundCloud.
His song, Bruises, went viral on Spotify and led to him being signed to a major record label. Lewis would blow up even more once "Someone You Loved" was released, his first no. 1 single. He continued to break records and reached unprecedented success even before his first album was released. However, the stress started getting to him when Capaldi tried making his second album. He would take a mental health break and discovered he was diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome. He has mentioned dealing with anxiety, impostor syndromes, and panic attacks. Tourette's has caused him to stop singing in the middle of his performances more than once.
Capaldi is a breath of fresh air in a world where many artists focus on image. He's proving that you don't have to fit a certain mold to make it in the music industry.

Quotes
But as soon as your first album does well, its like, “Can he do it again, though?” So there’s that tension all the time. You can only be the next big thing for, like, a year. The clock’s ticking. You get your whole life to write your first album and then a year or six months or something to write your second.

I was having beers with Ed Sheeran. And I was telling him about my impostor syndrome situation. Elton sent me an email saying, “Dear Lewis, I was talking to Ed yesterday and we talked about you. He said you were feeling like an impostor. BOLLOCKS! You are totally your own man. Your album is still riding high all over the world. AND IT’S YOUR FIRST ALBUM! You write beautiful songs that resonate with millions of people. You are great live, a wonderful singer.”

Everyone’s talking to each other. No one’s listening to you. No one’s turned round and looked at you. We might have two people. I would just do that for years and years.
