Ryan Gosling's struggles growing up
You likely know about the actor Ryan Gosling from one of his movies like Barbie, La La Land, or The Big Short, but you might not know about his struggles while growing up. When he was young, he couldn't read or write, had trouble making friends, and was often the target of bullies.
Despite many other websites stating Gosling has ADHD, he has never publicly mentioned an ADHD diagnosis, even though some of his childhood behavior seemed due to ADHD. Ryan could not focus in school, was placed in a special education class, and was suspended for throwing knives to mimic Rambo. Eventually, his mother would home-school Gosling, which turned his childhood around for the better.
Ryan finally gained self-confidence from the home-schooling, joined the Mickey Mouse Club as a teen, and has continued acting ever since. He would find his first big breakthrough movie in The Notebook when he was 23 and really broke through to the mainstream in 2011 with Crazy, Stupid, Love and has been a movie star ever since then. Not bad for a kid who couldn't read at one point.
