The oldest Formula 1 World Champion is Juan Manuel Fangio, who was 46 when he won in 1957 for Maserati. This was his fourth straight world champion win and the fifth and last of his career.

He locked down his fifth championship in the season's sixth race at the German Grand Prix. It would be his last victory after he overtook the first two leaders in the second to last lap and held on to win by three seconds.
