UFC 112
Going into UFC 112, BJ Penn was considered invincible; he had won his last five fights at lightweight via finishes. His opponent, Frankie Edgar, was 12-1 but wasn't thought of as having a chance due to his lack of power.
Yet, Frankie not only lasted five rounds against Penn but also did enough that the judges scored him as the winner in a controversial decision. Many media outlets and fans thought Penn should have won. Due to the controversy, a rematch was set up for UFC 118, and this time, Frankie dominated BJ, proving the first win was no fluke. A third fight was eventually set up, which Edgar won too.

BJ Penn's Controversial Loss to Frankie Edgar Is a Loss For All of MMA
There may still be eight months worth of fights left in 2010 but I’m already locking in my vote for worst decision of the year: Frankie Edgar defeats BJ Penn by unanimous decision for the UFC Lightweight Championship. To be fair this was a very close fight and an admittedly difficult one to score. But it wasn’t that difficult. This should’ve went to Penn. You wouldn’t know that from looking at the judges scorecards, however.
