The defending NBA champions, Los Angeles Lakers, were down 29 points against the Seattle SuperSonics in game 4 of the semifinals in the 1989 playoffs. The Lakers trailed 43-14 at one point in the second quarter before cutting the lead to 11 at halftime. They would win it 97-95, behind James Worthy's 33 points.
